How did Meals on Wheels begin and progress?

The concept of Meals on Wheels originated in England during WWII to serve food to the ill, the elderly, and those who were unable to take care of themselves.

In 1978, the Social Concerns Commission of the Zionsville United Methodist Church initiated the Meals on Wheels program in Zionsville. They, along with volunteers from throughout the community, continue to support the organization, which operates as a chapter of the Boone County Meals on Wheels.

How is Meals on Wheels Governed?

Meals on Wheels is a non-profit organization governed by a board of directors which includes lay community leaders and professionals in nutrition and health care.
